The Totnes Times reported this story but pointed out that the snakes were in fact Grass Snakes - just as interesting and worthy of comment as Adders of course, but somewhat less dangerous. I also note with satisfaction that someone has corrected the grammar used in the handmade signs at the line crossings from "A nest of Adders HAVE been seen nearby" to "A nest of Adders HAS been seen nearby", there being only one nest, despite multiple Adders or Grass Snakes as the case may be.
Important stuff the Queen's English. What! What !
